32nd session of Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee kicks off in Cairo

The 32nd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee kicked off in Cairo on Tuesday, the Ministry of International Cooperation announced.

The committee, which runs through Thursday, is a the key mechanism for enhancing economic, trade, investment, and cultural relations between the two countries.


The current session aims to enhance trade and industrial relations, intra-industry investments, financial and banking cooperation, agriculture, food security, logistics, energy, electricity, and other areas of common interest.


The session began with expert meetings led by the cooperation ministry on the Egyptian side and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply on the Jordanian side.


This will be followed by ministerial-level meetings and conclude with a meeting between both prime ministers on Thursday.


On the Egyptian side, representatives from the ministries of cooperation, foreign affairs, transport, youth and sports, agriculture, health, education, supply, labour, finance, communications, petroleum, electricity and energy, planning and economic development, as well as representatives of other relevant authorities and agencies.


The Jordanian side will also participate with a delegation of experts representing several ministries and agencies, including the ministries of industry, foreign affairs, energy, labour, agriculture, and transport, as well as the Customs Department, and the General Food and Drug Administration.


The committee, which first met in 1985, is the oldest of its kind between Arab countries.


During its 31 sessions, more than 173 cooperation agreements have been signed relating to economic, trade, investment, cultural, scientific, and technical cooperation. These agreements have contributed to enhancing bilateral cooperation, increasing trade exchange rates, investments, and facilitating the exchange of expertise.
