High prices might slow down business in Ramadan
The devaluation of the pound affected the prices of Suhoor and Iftar leading to a sharp decline in prior reservation for groups and families, reported Daily News Egypt.
The price range of a meal per person is between 400-700 EGP. Several restaurant and floating restaurants' owners complained about lack of reservations from companies, which also led to fewer contracts with musicians and artists for the shows.
The Ministry of Tourism issued warnings to restaurants and business owners not to organize Ramadan programs without a license from the Ministry of Tourism. The application includes the duration and the prices of the shows and is usually approved by the ministry; the Ramadan programs are only to be held in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria, not in tourist cities like Sharm El-Sheikh or Hurghada.
