Canada warns against travel to Egypt, calling it a ‘high risk’ country
Canada warned its citizens against traveling to Egypt, classifying it as a high risk country due to deteriorating security conditions and the spread of terrorism, but excluded Cairo.
The warning was issued on August 31 after Egypt recently imposed an entry visa on Canadian citizens, even those holding Egyptian identity documents.
This move will negatively impact on Canadian and western tourism to Egypt.
The Canadian travel warning, published on the Canadian government’s website, addressed Egypt’s security situation and specified a high degree of risk in the regions of North Sinai and Western Sahara.
