Sofitel, a brand of French hospitality group Accor, has opened its new luxury five-star hotel in Cairo, Egypt.

The Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile offers 615 guest rooms and suites across 24 floors. The property is situated close to Tahrir Square and within reach of the Cairo Opera House, the Giza Pyramids, the Cairo Citadel, and the Ancient Coptic Quarter.

Sofitel global marketing vice-president Nicolas Gronier said: “The opening of the Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile signifies an important milestone in Sofitel’s commitment to redefining luxury hospitality; it also is the largest hotel that we’ve opened anywhere in the world.

“This exceptional property combines Sofitel’s renowned French savoir-faire with Egypt’s rich local culture, offering guests an unparalleled experience overlooking the iconic Nile River. Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile is a remarkable addition to our portfolio of five-star hotels, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first guests.”

The guest rooms feature private balconies, spa-like bathrooms with rainfall showers, and aromatherapy amenities.

The hotel also boasts 52 suites with separate living rooms, balconies, a 24-hour butler service, five restaurants and bars, and a spa with a jacuzzi, saunas and private couples’ rooms.

A 300m² outdoor pool is available for guests, and those staying in Luxury Club rooms and suites have access to Club Millésime and personal concierge butlers.

Sofitel operates over 120 hotels worldwide while its parent company, Accor, manages more than 5,500 properties across over 110 countries.

In November 2024, Accor partnered with Abu Dhabi Tourism Investment Company to open the Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza in late 2027, which will be near the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
