A 2-day climate hackathon (competition) taking place simultaneously in hundreds of cities around the world
Next Climathon Event 26 & 27 October 2018 in Cairo
#Climathon #ClimathonCairo
Originally conceptualised as a 24-hour hackathon by Climate-KIC, Climathon has since taken off as a global movement, engaging citizens on climate action—and providing cities with continued support on the unique challenges they face.
Cairo, being one of the largest cities in the world, is home to more than 15 million inhabitants. Like other mega-cities, solid waste management is a huge challenge for Cairo municipality and other stakeholders. The city produces more than 15,000 tons of solid waste every day which is putting tremendous strain on the city’s infrastructure. Waste collection services in Cairo are provided by formal as well as informal sectors. The waste management system in Cairo is currently subpar with municipal solid waste collection rates at roughly 60% of the total solid waste generated in the municipality.
Compete with your solid waste idea and win an entry straight into Falak Startups Bootcamp!
Do you have an ingenious idea to conquer Cairo’s waste problem? Now‘s your chance to share it with the world and hack your way to a cleaner future!
Come and solve the climate challenges in a vibrant atmosphere, where energizing food and drinks, inspirational workshops and talks, like-minded people, a chill-out area, as well as many other surprises are awaiting you.
Registration is now open for Climathon, a 2-day climate hackathon (competition) taking place simultaneously in hundreds of cities around the world on October 26 & 27.
