8th International Conference - Conservation as a vital role in defining the landmark as well as generating more traffic for the tourism
Conservation of Architectural Heritage (CAH) – 8th Edition
- 17, Sep / 20, Sep 2024
- Luxor - Aswan, Egypt
A community’s history is often reflected onto its architecture which helps us bridge the gap between our past and present, allowing us to better understand our past and even further shape our cultural identities. The need to conserve our architectural heritage has been an increasingly agreed upon necessity and has grown exponentially.
The conservation of an architectural building or heritage site plays a vital role in defining the landmark as well as generating more traffic for the tourism industry. It also provides a sense of identity and continuity in a fast-changing world for future generations.
The conservation of architectural heritages alleviates the economic pressure imposed upon surrounding property and business owners and the community as a whole by reusing existing and less materials. As a result, it provides opportunities for the use of the labor force and increases the property value of the conserved building or site itself and its neighboring infrastructures. It also reduces environmental pressures since conservation utilizes less than half of the energy used in the construction of new buildings whilst reducing construction waste.
In an ongoing attempt of furthering this discussion and encouraging more individuals to get involved, IEREK is organizing its 8th international conference on Conservation of Architectural Heritage (CAH). The conference take place on board a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, Egypt in February of 2024.
This conference will provide planners, engineers, and environmentalists with a platform to discuss the challenges that can be faced during the process of conserving architectural heritages. It will also help provide the attendees with the chance to be a part of an important discussion, providing them with the opportunity of taking a step towards actively making a change for the better.
