Vodafone and Telecom Egypt sign $600m deal to push 5G

In October, Egypt granted mobile operators including Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt and e& Egypt licences for 5G services worth $675 million.

Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is presenting eight of the country’s leading tech companies at Electronica 2024.

The minister noted that 5G services require a robust fibre-optic network to connect the towers, which offer this new technology.

Egypt reduced its mobile phone import bill from $1.6 billion in 2021 to $1.65 million—a staggering 99.9 percent decrease—in the first half of 2024.

The report pointed out that the metaverse is a reality that would change the nature of the world socially, behaviorally, economically and culturally.
