Egypt exports hit record $40 bln in 2024

Minister of Investment and External Trade Hassan ElKhatib announced Monday that Egyptian exports reached an all-time high of $40 billion in 2024.

The investment ministry noted that importers must provide a bank statement to confirm their financial capacity to make such purchases.

The US continued to be the biggest importer, with Egyptian exports increasing 14% to USD 971 million.

Only 24 Uzbek companies currently operate in Egypt, primarily in the tourism, telecommunications, IT, and agriculture sectors.

December saw updates to the export program, introducing revised percentages of foreign currency proceeds exporters are required to surrender.
