Exxon announced its entry into the North Marakia block in 2019 and sold a 40% stake to QatarEnergy in 2022.

Egypt and Italian energy company Eni are discussing establishing a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Damietta on the Mediterranean.

At the end of 2023, wind represented about 3% of Egypt’s installed capacity with 1.6 GW and 2.8% of its power generation with 6.7 TWh.

By December 2024, these reserves reached $47.109 billion, a significant rise from $35.220 billion in December 2023.
