'Cairo WoodShow 2011' successfully ends four-day run with reported sales of over $2.9m

The event lived up to its objective of being a strategic platform for the wood and wood machinery industry.
Egypt's inaugural edition of the 'Cairo International Wood & Wood Machinery Show,' successfully ended its four-day run at the Cairo International Convention Centre (CICC) with transactions amounting to over $2.9m. 'Cairo WoodShow 2011' has helped drive in more growth for the country's wood industry, having provided a strategic venue for the creation of new deals and partnerships.

According to Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions (SME), organizers of the event, the overwhelming response received for the show has resulted in the sale of over $2m worth of wood working machineries; $600,000 worth of wood products; $250,000 worth of wood equipment and $50,000 worth of power tools.

The event, which ran from October 9 to October 12, 2011, has helped consolidate Egypt's position as a strategic hub for the Middle East and African (MEA) region's wood industry. 'Cairo WoodShow 2011' saw the attendance and participation of leading regional business leaders, government officials, foreign dignitaries and other VIP's. Also, more than 70 international brands were displayed in the exhibition with over 9,000 specialized trade visitors and international delegations coming from Kenya, Angola, Nigeria, Cyprus, China, Turkey, Qatar, Jordan, KSA and Morocco.

Exhibitors lauded the organizers for the strategic organization of the event, which was combined with a comprehensive set of activities that allowed for key networking opportunities. Eng. Ramadan Elwan, Homag Group, said, "This is one of the best exhibitions that we have participated in. In fact, this is the first time ever that we sold a machine on the first day of a show." Also, Eng. Mohamed Zaki, Nile International Company for Import, remarked at the positive results they received during the show, saying, "Our sales volume of transactions during 'Cairo WoodShow' exceeded over EGP 4 million."

'Cairo WoodShow 2011' featured exhibitors coming from countries like Romania, Italy, USA, China and Germany, ably providing a wide display of wood products, import capabilities, manufacturing & processing potential as well as trade mechanisms. The event also provided attendees with an exclusive platform for business development and the presentation and delivery of a state-of-the-art exhibition.

"The success of this inaugural event has given us the confidence and inspiration to start preparations for next year's 'Cairo WoodShow 2012.' In fact, 53% of this year's exhibitors have already expressed their interest in participating at next year's show and also with bigger and wider booths to house their product displays. We are pleased that the show has managed to play its part in the unified efforts towards the economic recovery of Egypt," concluded Al Shezawi.
