More support to Egypt's Startups

Orange Egypt continues to provide support to Injaz Egypt’s annual Start Up competition. The competition aims to encourage young entrepreneurs between the ages of 21-27 years to start their own small businesses that contribute to the Egyptian economy and offer more job opportunities. Orange has allocated this year more seed funding to projects that serve the society.
This year’s competition took place at the American University in Cairo’s New Campus, with participants from 20 companies who presented their projects to judges and visitors including youth, businessmen, and media.
This competition helps to develop and enhance youth skills in the field of project management to establish new companies. “Start Up” competition consists of 3 stages where only 20 out of 100 participating teams get selected to participate in the final stage and win the seed funding for their projects.
Dina El-Mofty, Founder and CEO of Injaz Egypt, stated “My 'Start Up 2016’ program introduced strong competition between the participating teams to do their best and present innovative ideas and products this year. Witnessing the impact of the projects presented from this generation on the national economy is very inspirational. The current young generation is capable of creating real opportunities for growth in Egypt, especially when they are provided with the needed support and direction. We are proud to present this potential in Injaz with the support of Orange and Boeing. Orange is considered a founding partner of Injaz Egypt and it has always provided a significant support to the organization throughout the past 13 years in developing ad empowering thousands of Egyptian youth.”
It is worth mentioning that more than 80% of the participants are from Cairo, 9% from Giza, 4% from Alexandria, and the rest are from Suez, Kafr El Sheikh, and Banha. The number of males participating reached 85% and the number of females reached 15%. Funds also ranged between EGP 25-120 thousand.
