Cairo ranked at number 125 out of 133 cities in The Economist's 2019 Worldwide Cost of Living Survey.

The ranking depends on the cost of 160 services and goods in each city like housing, schools, transportation and utilities.

The cheapest city in the world was Caracas, the capital of Venezuela replacing Damascus.

The most expensive city title was held by 3 cities, Singapore, Hong Kong and Paris.

The report also stated that the low cost of living doesn't mean people in that city are happy. In most cases the low cost of living is driven by political or financial instability like the case of Venezuela and Syria who rank lowest on the list.
