Egypt wins 2 sustainability awards from EBRD
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) awarded Egypt 2 awards in the fields of sustainable energy and gender inclusion.
The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) was the receiver of the silver award in the field of sustainable energy. The Environment and Sustainability Department recognized the efforts of EETC in innovation and helping women access green skills in renewable energy sector.
The 2nd prize was awarded to the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) who received the Bronze award in gender inclusion. The ENR exerted efforts in providing safe transportation for women which helped them access economic and educational opportunities.
The award ceremony was supposed to be held in May 2020 as part of the EBRD annual meeting and business forum, but the event was cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic.
Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat welcomed the award and praised the EVRD for celebration achievements.
The value of the cooperation between Egypt and EBRD currently exceeds 4 billion euros.
