New project for China in Egypt New Administrative Capital
Egypt and China signed a new MOU for another megaproject at the New Administrative Capital. The project will cover a 700 square Kms and will host public agencies and offices.
The New Administrative Capital was due to open in 2020, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening was postponed to June 2021 when thousands of public and state employees will be relocated there.
The MOU signing was attended by the Egyptian Ambassador in China Mohamed El-Badry and Vice President of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Zhou Yong. Egypt’s Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar attended via videoconferencing.
China will handle implementation, management and operation of the project that will be part of the central business district. China will also handle other projects around the country.
El-Gazzar stressed he importance of speeding up the constructions as the central business district is expected to host the inauguration of the New Capital.
