Uber has released new data-driven insights, in the form of a small report showing the impact of ridesharing on tourism, economic growth, and efforts for sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa region in 2022-2023.

The data revealed that tourists from over 80 countries visited the region in the past year, with tourists from 86 nationalities visiting Egypt. The growth in tourism across the MENA region and big events like the World Cup that took place in Qatar had a positive impact on drivers’ earnings and the flourishing of Uber services in the region.

The data also highlighted the need for flexible economic opportunities that allow drivers to have multiple sources of income, with the majority of drivers using the platform for less than 30 hours per week.

Uber aims to provide riders with diverse options to make travel more seamless, support drivers during these unprecedented times, and make their platform emissions-free by 2040. Uber has made strides towards sustainability by offering more sustainable options in the UAE and Jordan and doubling the number of sustainable trips in the UAE in the 1st quarter of 2023.
