Egypt efforts to reduce emissions started showing results

Recently, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt, Tarek El Molla, announced that Egypt has achieved annual savings of EGP 2.8 billion by using recovered flare gases instead of diesel fuel in operations.

This comes as part of the ministry's, and the country's strategy to prioritize projects that reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency while preserving the environment.

The report showed that twelve companies implemented these Zero Flare gas recovery projects, and there are ongoing projects to exploit the torch gas in five other companies. The ministry is also planning a second campaign to measure methane emissions in the oil sector starting in May 2023.

Egypt's efforts to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency can have a big positive impact on the environment and economy.
