Hikma renews ISO 14001:2004 at Hikma Jordan facility
June 2011, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, announced the renewal of the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 14001:2004 certification at the Hikma Jordan facility and the Arab Medical Containers Company for 2011.
ISO standards achieve benefits for business, government and society and provide practical tools for tackling challenges in all three dimensions of sustainability – economic, environmental and societal. They distil the latest in expert knowledge and make it available to all. In this way, they propagate new advances and transfer technology, making ISO standards an invaluable source of knowledge.
These standards make a positive contribution to the world we live in. They ensure vital features such as quality, ecology, safety, economy, reliability, compatibility, interoperability, efficiency and effectiveness. All of which are indispensible characteristics of the way Hikma Pharmaceuticals conducts its business.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals is keen on ensuring transparency within its reporting, as well as conforming to global standards with its assessment mechanisms. This is one of the key pledges that constitute Hikma’s Environmental policy. Other pledges include integrating the environmental policy across the Group; reducing its impact on climate change; complying with environmental legislation and regulation in every country in which it operates, and striving for continuous improvement in its environmental protection.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals will continue to work on reducing its impact on the environment across all its businesses, while meeting its corporate and business requirements to reduce costs and operate more efficiently.
Dr. Khader Jarwan, the general manager at Hikma Jordan, stated: “Hikma’s renewal of the ISO 14001 certificates affirms our dedication to being environmentally responsible. The annual renewal of the certification further illustrates our commitment to continually improving Hikma’s environmental performance, highlighting our objectives of reducing carbon emissions and harmful waste across the group.”
