Egypt invites bids for 500MW of renewable energy projects
Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) have floated separate tenders for a 200MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project, a 50MW concentrating solar power (CSP) project and a 250MW wind power project.
The projects are proposed to be developed in the West Nile area on a build, own and operate basis.
NREA will provide the required land for the projects and EETC will sign power purchase agreements (PPAs) with the winning bidders.
Interested companies are required to submit pre-qualification documents for the wind tender by 5 October 2015, while bids for PV and CSP projects are due for 2 November and 16 November, respectively.
Both local and foreign developers are invited to participate in the auctions with a specified experience.
For the PV and wind project, bidders need to have developed three 50MW facilities of the specific type.
The bidders of the CSP project should have experience of developing 30MW of solar thermal power capacity across three sites.
