Egypt reconsiders peaceful nuclear programme

Egypt’s Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has resumed contacts and negotiations with a number of international companies specialized in the technology of establishing and operating nuclear stations, reports said on Tuesday.NPPA also received a number of proposals in this regard as part of Egypt’s efforts to diversify energy resources and revive its peaceful nuclear energy program with the aim of setting up a number of nuclear stations to generate power.

According to NPPA Chairman Atef Abdel Hamid, the authority was now also intensifying efforts to provide training in order to develop its human resources, so that its staffers would be ready for technical posts while implementing and operating the national nuclear program.
