The market share of HTC mobile phones rose to 8%, ranking fourth in terms of mobile phone sales in the Egyptian market during the first nine months of 2015 and ranking second in terms of the financial value of sales.

This is due to the high prices of HTC devices. Meanwhile, the share of Lenovo smart devices rose to 12% and ranked third in Egyptian market sales.

HTC managed to increase the market share of its brands it's in Egypt, said Tarek Abdel Mohsen, the Marketing Director of JoVi Tronix, HTC and Lenovo's exclusive agent in Egypt.

During 2016, the company plans to raise its market share of HTC devices to 14%, according to Abdel Mohsen. The company aims to increase its sales growth rates to 25% to 30%.

The past few years have witnessed growth in smart phone sales rates in Egypt. However, 2014 witnessed a peak in sales growth, according to a GfK (Society for Consumer Research) market research report, which revealed that the sale of smart devices in the Egyptian market during the period from January to October last year reached more than 5.4m devices.

Samsung took the largest share of market sales during the same period, with a share of 67.8%, while Nokia came in second place with 13.2%, followed by Alcatel with a share of 4.8%, and Sony with 4.6%.

The smartphone market saw a leap in sales during October, as market sales amounted to 653,800 devices, compared to 631,700 in September and 590,500 in August last year. This reflects an increase the growth rates of smart devices in the Egyptian market.
