Egypt’s minister of commerce and industry Tarek Qabil said on Monday that there was a 21 percent increase in Egyptian exports to France in 2017, state-owned MENA news agency reported.
Qabil, who is currently accompanying President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on a visit to France, told MENA that trade between Egypt and France in 2016 reached 2 billion euros, including 500 million euros in Egyptian exports.

Qabil also said that French investments in Egypt reached 5 billion euros, mostly in the glass manufacturing and chemical industries.

The minister said that the Egyptian delegation’s visit to France will include meetings with French companies to encourage them to enter the Egyptian market.

Qabil said that the Egyptian-French business council will hold a meeting to showcase the investment situation in Egypt as well as the results of the country’s latest economic reforms.

Seventeen cooperation agreements are set to be signed on Tuesday between Egyptian and French officials in various fields, including the economy and investment.
