Trade exchange between Egypt, Ukraine hit $1.25 billion

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Ukraine recorded $1.255 billion from January to June 2017, compared to $1.206 billion during the same period last year.

This was announced by Trade and Industry Minister Tareq Qabil during his meeting with Ukrainian First Vice Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister Stepan Kubiv on the sidelines of his participation in the World Trade Organization's 11th ministerial conference, currently in session in Buenos Aires, Argentine.

Egypt's exports to Ukraine increased by 49.23 percent in the first half of 2017, Qabil said.

He added that Egypt's main exports to Ukraine include vegetables and fruits, especially oranges, potatoes and onions, pharmaceuticals, garments, polyethylene slabs, flat glass panels and detergents.

While Egypt's imports include iron and steel and their products, corn, wheat, sunflower oil, soybeans, tobacco, tanker trucks, Urea and cows, he added.

A meeting between Egyptian and Ukrainian exporters will be held in January, Qabil said.

He added that he received an invitation to visit Ukraine next year for talks with senior officials and attend the Egyptian-Ukrainian Business Forum.
