Egypt's wheat reserves sufficient for 5.2 months, rice for 6.5 months
Egypt’s strategic reserve of basic commodities is safe and sufficient for several months, according to the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Ali Al-Moselhi.
The Minister of Supply said - in televised statements - that the strategic reserve of wheat is sufficient for 5.2 months until next May 7, noting that the local wheat supply season begins in mid-April.
He added that the strategic reserve for sugar is sufficient for up to 3.4 months, and the sugar cane season will start in mid-January, and the beet season in mid-February.
Al-Moselhi explained that the strategic reserve of rice is sufficient for up to 6.5 months, the oil reserve is sufficient for 5.7 months, and the Sudanese live meat reserve is sufficient for a year, and it is sold in consumer complexes at a price of LE 115 per kilo, and frozen meat is also sold at a price of LE 79.
He added that the reserve of frozen poultry is sufficient for 7 months, while the reserve of pasta is sufficient for 7 months.
