Egypt's Urban Development Fund launches project to develop the historic Fustat area
Egypt's Urban Development Fund (UDF) has launched project to develop Fustat area in historic Cairo at total investment of 6 billion Egyptian pounds ($243 million).
Key components of the project, spread over an area of 500 acres, include:
- Amr ibn al-Aas Mosque and the recreational centre of Fustat Park, Martyrs' Square, Castle Square, Garden Square and Parking Lot
- Reception Garden and Cairo House
- Police station, Club of the Ministry of Antiquities, and National Documents House
- Churches area
- Al Bustan Walk
- Children's creative centre and interaction area with pets
- National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation
- Memorial Park
- Botanical garden
- Iconic figurine and ceremonial arena
