Al-Sisi follows up on hydroelectric plant Egypt is building in Tanzania
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar to discuss the results of the recent visit of an Egyptian ministerial delegation to Tanzania.
An Egyptian delegation visited Tanzania to witness the start of reservoir filling in the Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydroelectric Plant, which is being built by an Egyptian alliance of Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric.
The dam is considered the largest development project in Tanzania. It will contribute to generating twice the energy production in the country, with a storage capacity of about 34 billion cubic meters, and a production capacity of 2115 megawatts.
The meeting also addressed the progress of development projects in the New Administrative Capital, especially the residential neighbourhoods, the financial and business district, squares, axes, and the Green River area.
