Egypt’s supply ministry denies increasing prices of commodities in January
The Head of the Internal Trade Sector at the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade Abdel Moneim Khalil denied rumors spread on social media about increasing the prices of supply commodities in January 2023, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on December 24th.
In a phone call with Ala Masouliaty talk show, Khalil said that no directives were issued for increasing the prices of supply commodities next January.
The state is keen on supplying commodities and alleviating burdens on Egyptian citizens, he added.
The top official noted that Egypt has a sufficient strategic reserve of commodities, denying any shortage in commodities across the country.
A total of 64 million citizens benefit from ration cards, Khalil said, adding that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the provision of EGP 1 billion as exceptional support for the holders of ration cards.
