Egypt’s land and dry ports authority, local consortium sign pact for logistics zone PPP
General Authority for Land and Dry Ports (GALDP) and a consortium of Egyptian companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to build and operate an integrated logistics zone in Salloum, located in Matrouh governorate.
The project will span an area of 700 acres and serve the existing 21-acre Salloum Land Port owned by GALDP, the transport ministry said in a statement.
The logistics zone will house light and medium industrial units and value-add services such as packaging, storage, redistribution and promote the export of Egyptian products to Libya and North Africa through port of Jarjoub, the statement said.
The consortium will also manage and operate existing 11 warehouses and 24 cold storage facilities inside the land port.
The statement said the consortium financial plan for the project is backed by European Investment Bank (EIB)
In September 2022, state-owned news service SIS had reported that the project includes establishing 13 new buildings, renovating 17 existing ones, and setting up a logistics area at the port.
