Intra-Arab trade does not exceed 7%
Mohamed El-Bahi, Chairman of the Arab Cooperation Committee at the Federation of Industries, stressed the importance of Arab integration and interdependence.
El-Bahi pointed out that the Arab countries did not benefit from the previous agreements, as the volume of intra-Arab trade did not exceed 7%, which does not live up to the aspirations and hopes of Arab countries and peoples.
He stressed, during the committee meeting, in the presence of a number of ambassadors, officials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and a number of industrialists, that the Arab environment is rich in worthy elements that contribute to the formation of a strong Arab industry and competitive products.
He indicated that the recent crises, whether Corona or the lack of supply chains, impose cooperation and integration in a serious way during the coming period.
El-Bahi reviewed the intra-trade movement between the Arab countries, as the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the Arab countries increased, reaching $19.3 billion in 2022, compared to $14.26 billion in 2015, an increase of 36%.
The volume of Arab merchandise trade with the world increased by about 23.1% during 2021, recording 1848.6 billion dollars, compared to 1501.9 billion dollars in 2020.
