1,700 new ready-made garment factories enter Egyptian market for first time
Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, Head of the Garment Industry Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, revealed that the number of factories registered in the Chamber has increased to 8,500 members, including 1,700 new memberships which are about entering the Egyptian market for the first time.
He indicated that the ready-made garment sector is witnessing a great development in terms of product quality and fashion lines, and competitive prices, which allowed Egyptian products to have new foreign markets, meet a large proportion of the local market's needs, and reduce the import bill.
Dr. Abdel Salam added that the ready-to-wear industry has succeeded in reaching 70% of the local component currently, compared to 30% of imported inputs, and we aim during the coming period to increase the percentage to 80% for local components.
