Number of tourists to Egypt increased by 55%
A report by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development confirmed that the tourism sector in Egypt witnessed a very strong performance, and the number of tourists increased by 55% in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, compared to last year.
The report emphasized that the government is striving to maximize the potential of the sector, as it is a major driver of growth, noting that the revenues of the Suez Canal increased by about 30%.
On the performance of the Egyptian economy, the report indicated that a growth rate of 6.6% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was achieved in the fiscal year 2021/2022 despite the challenges, so this positive growth will continue in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2022/23 to hit 4.4%.
