Amideast and Boeing launch the STEM for Sustainability competition in Egypt
Amideast/Egypt and Boeing announced the launch of the 2023 STEM for Sustainability competition that empowers start-ups and supports young entrepreneurs in Egypt.
The STEM for Sustainability competition builds on the strategic partnership between Amideast/Egypt and Boeing to align science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education with the sustainability priorities of the country.
“During the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh in 2022, Boeing and Amideast announced the intention to support Egypt’s green transition by investing in the growing young population of the country. The entrepreneurship competition is an integral part of this journey”, said Kuljit Ghata-Aura, Boeing president in the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
Three winners of the competition will receive monetary seed funding for their sustainability start-ups. All the finalists will get an opportunity to participate in a bootcamp training that will cover several topics including basics of start-ups, business modeling, business planning and pitch deck development.
The competition is targeting Egyptian start-up teams and individuals aged 16-30 who have innovative business ideas in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The application to join the competition is available online: (link to the application form on the website)
“We believe that this and similar competitions spotlight innovative ideas that can positively impact the entire ecosystem and encourage the establishment of start-ups that contribute to sustainable development. Through this competition, we provide an opportunity for young Egyptian entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations that will help in creating a more sustainable world for the coming generations”, said Shahinaz Ahmed, Country Director of Amideast/Egypt.
