Egypt's PM inagurates Mercedes-Benz logistics center at Sokhna Port
The prime minister inaugurated the Mercedes-Benz logistics center in Sokhna ndustrial zone on Thursday in a prelude to locally launch the European car.
The logistics center will facilitate transportation, distribution, and storage of cars to and from the port to the industrial zone, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly was told at the inauguration.
Projects such as these will attract prominent international companies to invest in all targeted sectors and pump foreign investments into the ports and affiliated industrial zones, head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Walid Gamal el-Din told Madbouly.
Gerd Petrelich, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Egypt, explained that the actual operation has kicked off with the logistics center.
The center was established at an investment cost of L.E. 35 million on an area of 20,000 square meters. It can handle 12,000 cars annually, including receiving cars, spare parts, components, and production requirements.
Petrelich also said it has 135 direct and indirect workers and a yard for storing cars, another for spare parts, and a maintenance workshop.
