High demand on Egyptian onions this year
International demand for golden onions increased this year due to climate conditions that disrupted onion production worldwide, according to Noha Gharib, development manager at the exporting company H&W Trading Co. Noha said: "We're witnessing a high interest in our onions due to global shortage, and we're doing our best to keep up with this demand".
She continues: "Despite the decline in volumes at the national level, we have put in a lot of effort and managed to collect sufficient volumes to meet our commitments to our customers. They have shown great patience and trust, and have given us enough time to source onions of satisfactory quality and secure shipping conditions."
Sourcing difficulties are still persistent in the orange sector as well, according to Noha: "the demand for large sizes is still important, while the supply in Egypt is insufficient this year, especially for Navels. This is also due to the weather conditions. Once again, we were able to meet our customers' demands thanks to our long-standing relationships and our network of producers, and this is a great accomplishment for us."
