Gov't Approves Minimum Wage for State Employees
The Official Gazette published, in its issue Sunday, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly’s decision to amend some provisions to the minimum wage for employees and workers for state agencies and economic public authorities.
The decision specified the wage for the excellent job grade will be set at 10,500 pounds per month, the high grade job at 8,500 pounds per month, the general manager at 7,000 pounds per month, the first class at 6,500 pounds per month, the second class at 5,500 pounds, the third class at 5,000 pounds, the fourth at 4,500 pounds, and the fifth at 4,000 pounds, and the sixth 3,500 pounds per month.
The minimum total wage for an employee or worker who holds a master's degree will be set at 6,000 pounds per month, as for a PhD degree holder, it was amended to reach 7,000 pounds per month.
Article 2 states the following: “The employee/worker is entitled to a complementary incentive that represents the difference between the total wage and the minimum wage stipulated in Article 1 of this decision."
The decision included that in cases where the total wages of employees or workers who hold a master’s degree or a doctorate degree, including what is paid to them in terms of allowances or incentives, the difference between them is due, and it is spent within the framework of the rules and controls regulating entitlement to the benefits of academic excellence in force, provided that this difference is calculated only once.
