30K hotel rooms to be introduced in Egypt's South Sinai by 2028
Supervisor of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Bureaus in South Sinai Hussein Mohamed Hussein told Al Watan newspaper Friday that 30,000 hotel rooms would be introduced in the governorate by 2028.
The official clarified that, as such, South Sinai would be able to receive 10 million tourists per annum, given that the number of existing hotel rooms is 62,000. He added that the total number of hotel rooms in Egypt is 213,000 distributed on 1,210 hotels.
Tourism minister Ahmed Issa Taha stated in March that 11.7 million tourists visited Egypt during 2022, noting that it is expected that Egypt would see an increase in foreign tourist arrivals by 28 percent.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Taha gave an overview of his ministry's strategy during the current period to launch promotion campaigns to further increase foreign tourists arrivals.
