Egyptian Minister of Tourism predicts 15 million tourists to visit Egypt in 2023
Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Issa Taha met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to discuss tourism industry developments and ministry projects.
The Minister of tourist examined a number of topics at the discussion, including the present state of the tourist industry and inbound tourism movement in 2023, as well as the current implementation of the National Tourism Strategy and other connected topics.
The minister discussed the primary tourism movement expectations for 2023, as well as other tourism metrics. He stated that inbound tourism flow increased by 43 percent in the first three months of this year compared to the same time in 2022.
The predicted tourism movement in 2023 is 15 million tourists, which is a big positive indication for Egypt's tourism industry.
The minister also discussed the main indicators in the Information and Decision Support Center's "Tourism Barometer" report, which showed optimism among tourism facility officials about the tourism sector's performance, as well as their positive outlook on the impact of government procedures taken in the tourism sector.
Simultaneously, the minister discussed tourism developments related to the "National Tourism Strategy," which aims to attract 30 million tourists by 2028 by focusing on aviation, tourism experience, improving the investment climate, and tripling the capacity of hotels and recreational activities.
The minister reviewed a number of additional measures that have been put in place to meet the target of 15 million tourists by 2023, such as making tourism visas easier to obtain, changing the strategy for dealing with negative tourist experiences, and developing various tourist destinations to diversify Egypt's tourism activities.
Egypt's tourism business is gradually recovering from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to the government's efforts to revitalize the economy, which include reducing travel restrictions and promoting various tourist locations.
