Sisi ratifies law collecting money from travelers abroad
The Official Gazette in Egypt published an amendment to some provisions of the Stamp Tax Law to impose a tax on leaving the country, entering theaters and other places of entertainment.
The articles of the law stipulated that the texts of provisions (five) and (12) of the first paragraph of Article I of Law 147 of 1984 imposing a fee for developing the state’s financial resources will be replaced by the following:
- Provision (five) – when leaving the territory of the Republic of Egypt, with a fee of LE100 when leaving the territory of the Republic, except for foreigners coming only for tourism to the governorates of Cairo, Giza, the Red Sea, South Sinai, Luxor, Aswan, and Matrouh, where the fee is LE50.
Excluded from this are Egyptian and foreign passenger and public goods transport vehicle drivers and those working on lines or trucks that regularly cross the borders of Egypt.
