Finance Min.: EGP 50 Million of Coins Offered to Avoid Change Shortage on Eid al-Adha

Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait confirmed that 50 million pounds of coins, “fakka" change were offered on the occasion of the blessed Eid Al-Adha to meet the needs of citizens and avoid bottlenecks in parking lots or shops.


The minister added that the Treasury and Mint Authority witnessed during the past few years an unprecedented boom in the field of "digitization", and introduced work with advanced mechanisms that save time and effort, and raise the production capacity of coins, in a way that enables the ministry to offer additional quantities of "change change" ahead of seasons and holidays.


Hossam Khedr, head of the Public Treasury and Mint Authority said that 'We are keen to provide all the needs of citizens and markets of “fakka change” through a reserve sufficient for a year and a half.


He added that the past few days witnessed a great turnout of citizens at the headquarters of the “Public Treasury and Mint” department to get “change” and new money that is provided to be presented as “Eidiya”.
