Egypt to Spend EGP4.8 billion to Renovate Its Museums, Temples
In a bid to promote Egypt tourism, the government secured EGP4.8 billion to renovate the counter’s museums, temples, and cultural venues during the current year.
The decision is part of Egypt’s plan recently approved by the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry to increase tourism numbers to 15 million this year.
According to Fitch Solutions, Egypt's tourism revenues are expected to grow by 17.7 percent to hit $13.6 billion in 2023. It also noted that tourism revenues are expected to reach $17.9 billion by the end of 2026.
The Minister of Tourism Ahmed Issa also revealed that Travelers to Egypt increased by 35 percent in January and February.
The country has witnessed a cultural renaissance in recent years, with government support. It has spent billions of pounds opening new museums, restoring archaeological sites, and putting on two spectacular parades in a bid to preserve and promote its cultural heritage.
It's important to note that Egypt has more than 2,500 archaeological sites, only dozens are visited by tourists.
