Agriculture Min. Reveals Price of Giza Zoo Ticket after Development
Mohamed Ragai, director of the zoos affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the archaeological buildings and rare trees in the Orman and Zoo gardens were counted over a period of two months before closing the two gardens, through a committee composed of the ministry’s experts, before handing them over to the developer.
About the fate of the animals in the zoo after the closure, Ragai added, in an call-in on one of the TV channels that they will remain in their place and all food and medical care will be provided to them until the completion of building their new places, and under the supervision of the old workers, explaining that the Ministry of Military Production, as the developer, will pay these workers.
And about the fate of the prices of zoo tickets after development, which now amount to 5 pounds per ticket, he said: "The state has been keen, since studying the development plan, to ensure that zoo tickets remain accessible to all classes of society, and not to be transferred after development to certain classes," but he stressed at the same time maintaining the current ticket price of 5 pounds cannot be sustained because it is unfair to the park itself and its needs and expenses.
He continued, saying: "It is not reasonable for tickets to remain within the range of 5 pounds, in light of the high prices of animal food and veterinary medicines, and the price of 5 pounds is considered unfair to the park, but the study concluded that ticket prices will range between 25 and 30 pounds per person to ensure continuity of spending on the park."
