Egypt approves partnership with the private sector in four state-owned infrastructure projects

The four development projects include the operation and maintenance of an electrical transformer plant as well as the dry port/logistics centre in 10 Ramadan city.

They also include the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant in 6 October city and the electrical grid in New Alamein city.

The committee also approved offering 17 other infrastructure projects for PPPs.

These include three wastewater and industrial waste plants in Sadat, New Beni Suef and New Mansoura cities; and nine transformer plants and electrical grid projects in the New Administrative Capital, 6 October city, and New Aswan city.

They also include two power generation projects in Tanta and Giza and three expansion projects for wastewater treatment plants in Ismailia, Giza and Beheira governorates.

Egypt has recently taken major steps to encourage investments and entrepreneurship, guaranteeing equal treatment between public and private sectors, supporting the investment climate and developing legislation for startups.

On Tuesday, the government announced that 21 water desalination plants with a total capacity of 3.3 million cubic metres per day are prepared for offering until 2025 for a value of $3 billion.
