Egypt continues its ban on medical oxygen export
Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir has decided to continue banning the export of medical oxygen except with the approval of the Minister of Health and Population and Minister of Trade and Industry, for a year, starting from mid-July.
The minister said that the ban comes within the framework of the state’s comprehensive plan to protect citizens and provide needs of hospitals and medical institutions from the oxygen needed to provide medical services.
Head of the Trade Agreements and Foreign Trade Sector Amany Al-Wasl stated: “After consulting the Ministry of Health and Population, it was found that the decision should continue to secure liquefied oxygen for medical services. Accordingly, the ministry would not approve the export of liquefied medical oxygen surplus unless the needs of the Ministry of Health and Population were met.”
