Suez Canal Chairman, S. Korean Amb. Discussing Joint Cooperation

Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) received Sunday the South Korean Ambassador in Cairo Kim Yong-Hyun with the aim of discussing ways of joint cooperation.


Rabie expressed his aspiration to complete constructive cooperation between the authority and South Korean institutions and companies operating in the maritime field, especially in areas related to green transformation.


The head of the authority explained that the Suez Canal has started its first actual steps towards green transformation by promoting the use of clean energy in operating the pilot stations along the canal, and enhancing the capabilities of combating oil spills.


On his part, Yong-Hyun explained that the percentage of South Korea's foreign trade exceeds 70%, which makes the Suez Canal a major gateway to South Korean trade, praising the huge development witnessed by the projects to develop the canal's navigational course.


The Korean ambassador praised the development of the Canal Zone ports and the establishment of a series of giant tunnels, which play a vital role in facilitating the movement of trade and attracting foreign investments.
