The contracts for developing the terminal were signed in November 2022 between the General Authority for the SCZONE and the Sky Investment and Reliance Logistics Consortium.
According to Xinhua, the two contracts cover the designing, construction, management, operation, and maintenance of the new multipurpose terminal (Terminal 2).

The new 900-metre-long terminal is expected to provide job opportunities and lure $65 million in cumulative investments, SCZONE said in a statement.
This month, SCZONE confirmed the successful inaugural green bunkering operation using methanol at East Port Said.
