Food industry exports’ volume hits $2.635B: Trade Minister
The total volume of food industry exports reached $2.635B during the first 7 months of 2023 compared to $2.384B during the same period in 2022 recording an increasing by 10%. According to the minister of trade and industry's announcement, Ahmed Samir in a roundtable discussion of food industry companies.
Samir praised the significant contribution of the food sector to the Egyptian exports.
During the meeting, discussions took place with international companies specialized in the food industry to explore the ways of increasing investments, exports, and boosting local manufacturing.
The trade minister pointed out that Egypt is a regional manufacturing hub for most companies operating in the food industry.
“The food industry sector is one of the most strategic productive sectors in the national economy, providing thousands of job opportunities catering to the needs of the domestic market” The minister confirmed.
Samir explained that meeting discussed the ministry's efforts in the frame of achieving the state's goals regarding the localization of the production supplies industry. As identifying 152 investment opportunities by the ministry in the industrial sector, including opportunities for production supplies in the food, pharmaceutical, engineering and chemical sectors.
