Egypt keen on furthering joint cooperation with China
Egypt possesses strategic bonds with China that lay the groundwork for augmenting economic, trade, and investment collaboration, stated Ahmed Samir, the Minister of Trade and Industry. He articulated these remarks at a ceremony commemorating the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event had the Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang, the Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel Aal, and the ministers of tourism and the public business sector in attendance. The Trade and Industry Minister emphasized Cairo's commitment to enhancing shared cooperation with China. China, being a paramount strategic trade partner to Egypt, facilitated a bilateral trade worth around $16 billion last year. Samir affirmed that Egypt's joining the BRICS bloc since January would contribute to a greater trade exchange and mutual investments between Egypt and the other nations of the consortium which are the world's leading emerging economies. He further mentioned that this would also give way to non-conventional economic and trade cooperation policies, aiding the developmental plans of each member state and helping them attain their people’s aspirations for advancement and prosperity.
