Italian global oil and gas major Eni has been awarded three blocks for oil and gas exploration in Egypt as part of the country’s 2022 licensing round. The blocks were awarded by the Egyptian Natural Gas Company.
A total of 12 blocks have been awarded during the licensing round.
A minimum of $12 million will be invested and 12 wells drilled from the contracts awarded as part of the licensing round, according to Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.
Eni will explore two of the Mediterranean Sea blocks independently while the third will be explored in partnership with bp and QatarEnergy.
Russia’s Zarubezhneft has joined Eni as one of the selected exploration partners in the licensing round with a block in the Nile Delta.
