From Vision to Reality: Egypt's booming electronics sector sees 7 Key projects
Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced resourceful projects to foster growth in the electronics design and manufacturing sector, with total investments of EGP 643 million. These initiatives mark significant strides in advancing Egypt's technological capacities and the expansion of its indigenous electronics industry. Among the main initiatives, the Ministry plans to set up a manufacturing unit for electromechanical systems and internationally accredited local testing and quality labs. Furthermore, a hub for electronics manufacturing will be established in the Knowledge City. Over the past few years, the Ministry has executed multiple projects, with five completed at a cost of EGP 322 million. These include the construction of a mobile device production plant and the establishment of three electronics innovation hubs. In addition to the ones mentioned, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is also involved in projects costing EGP 56.1 billion during the last nine years. These cover the information infrastructure and digital transformation sectors, including 73 projects with allocated budget of EGP 14.9 billion. Among these exceptional projects include the Law Enforcement and Enforcement System, the development of the commodity and bread support system, the implementation and operation of the national health insurance system, and the Digital Egypt initiative for government services. The Ministry has also devoted its attention to 33 projects in the realm of social responsibility, amounting to EGP 6.6 billion, which include telemedicine and community centers among others to promote both economic growth and social development.
