Private sector to sell electricity before end of 2023
As per the news released on EgyptToday, the private sector will gain the ability to sell electrical power before the end of 2023. This announcement was made by the Minister of Electricity, Mohamed Shaker on Tuesday. The success of the ‘peer to peer’ experiment within the private sector is a significant step towards the liberalisation of the electricity market in Egypt. The role of the Electricity Utility Regulatory and Consumer Protection Authority is to determine the value of national electricity grid usage fees on behalf of private energy sellers to private consumers, in order to maintain a controlled and balanced market. This milestone will not only benefit the private sector but also provide a range of electricity services to the customers.
