EgyptAir brings Airbus A350 and Boeing 737 Max into its fleet
At the start of the Dubai Airshow, an airline that few experts had so prominently on the list is flying into the spotlight: Egypt Air. For example, in a trade fair preview, the analysis company IBA listed 20 airlines from which orders can be expected - the state airline from Egypt was not there.
But on Monday (November 13), the first day of the trade fair, Air Lease Corporation announced that it would lease 18 Boeing 737 Max 8s to Egypt Air . The jets will be delivered in 2025 and 2026. The airline then placed its own order with Airbus on Tuesday morning.
Ten Airbus A350-900s ordered
Egypt Air boss Yehia Zakaria signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for ten Airbus A350-900s . “Our focus is on expanding our fleet,” said Zakaria. They have not yet revealed when A350 deliveries will start.
The Airbus A350 and Boeing 737 Max are not yet part of Egypt Air's fleet, which is one of the largest airlines in Africa. It already has a very diverse fleet, which consists of around 80 jets. These include Airbus A220, A320-200, A320 Neo, A321 Neo, A330-200, A330-300, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 777-300 ER and Boeing 787-9.
